Will not start. Not getting fire from coil. Put new coil on. Has 4.0 motor 155000 miles, 4 wheel drive automatic. Also it's not getting 12 volt power to coil

Hi,

The first thing I recommend is this. If you are not getting 12v to the positive side of the coil, chances are the auto shutdown relay is bad. Battery voltage is supplied to the ignition coil positive terminal from the Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay.

If you look at the pic below, I highlighted the ASD relay and power supply, fuse 20 which are located in the under hood fuse box. First, make sure the fuse is good. In addition, confirm there is power to and from it.

If the fuse is good and has power, switch the ASD relay with a different one in the box having the same part number. If there isn't one, here is a link that explains how it's done.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
