We replaced the transmission today and know the gears all all out of wack, reverse is neutral, it wont shift into any gear not even park. And when he put the fluid in there the transmission is not sucking the fluid he only put 5 bottles to make it full, even though we know it needs like 12. But after cranking it the fluid is not moving, its staying full, the transmission wont pull it. The whole transmission and torc converter were replaced, what did they do wrong to what can they do to fix it.

If it wont go into park, are you sure the linkage is correctly installed? Also, was the trans a new one or used? I question if the front pump is working.

Finally got the fluid to pull he is going to check the linkage, now the only gears that will work is 2 and 3rd. But before we got the transmission replaced the original check engine light the codes for the old one were that 1st 3rd and 4th gear ratio were incorrect. And the check engine light is still on with the new transmisison.

Went through this procedure and stopped at #2. When vehicle is lifted, I am getting vehicle speed reading. Something else has started to happen though. The other day, after just starting and coming to my first stop, the vehicle started to shudder and die. This is a new twist in the chain, and now I am starting to think maybe torque converter clutch is not engaging/disengaging. Already changed the solenoids since they come new with the valve body and I checked them with DVOM before installing. When is the TC supposed to be engaged/ disengaged?

The tourqe convertor should be disengaged when you come to a stop and engage when your at cruise. When it starts to die when coming to a stop try putting it in neutral see if it still dies. ALso any new codes?Lets also finsh looking at that code P0720.

It could be part of the problem. Also, did you have any codes for the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) or shift solenoids?

Been putting it in neutral to keep it from dying when I feel its going to happen, keeps running when I do that. The reason I stopped at #2 because it says that if, when monitoring output shaft speed it's above 0 RPM then the code will not set. Just so that I'm not confusing this, I just used my code reader to monitor vehicle speed. I have Auto enginuity's program but did not use it. I may be able to monitor OSS from it but I have to check.

I Have A 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I was wondering what could cause my jeep to keep downshifting and then shifts back to normal at any given time while driving and every time I take a left turn it doesn't kick into gear right away, and every time I keep the brakes on at a stop light for to long it takes itself outta gear. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated im just trying to keep from buying a new transmission thank you.

IT could be the control module. However, the most common cause of what you described is low transmission fluid. Have you checked it?

transmission will not shift out of first, won't go faster than 20 mph. What are some possible solutions? I live in the mountains in Colorado and don't have many mechanics to choose from. I'm a woman and want to make sure I don't get cheated.

Could be the Vehicle Speed Sensor, a bad solenoid, many things. Im guessing the Check Engine Light is on, have it scanned and go from there. Ask for the trouble code and check back with us for code definition

That happened to mine in 08 /06. They replaced the Gov sensor # 12415c, gov solenoid, 12432a, on the A500 tranny. The total was 391.75 Make sure they put Mopar ATF 4 fluid back in. They should be a member of ATSG and BBB. Hope that helps.
