My transmission keeps slipping after you stop at a stop sign and start to go again. My husband said transmission fluid was leaking, so he put more in. This was about a month ago, and now its doing it again. Also, we were in traffic the other day and it started to overheat. Are these two seperate problems. And how bad is it to just keep putting transmission fluid in till we have enough money to fix it?

The overheating and the tranny would be two seperate issues. I cant see them being tied together. First with the tranny. Try and see where the fluid is coming from. You may have a cheap fix already. The lines may have worked loose over the years and just need a snug up. Also check the pan. If the pan is where the leak is this is also a cheap fix. Plus when you change the pan gasket you can change the fluid and the filter which the tranny probably needs anyways. If the the tranny is slipping as bad as it sounds tho you probably need it rebuilt so keep this in mind before you put a pan gasket and filter in. Keep me advised and hope this helps. Curt
