Engine Cooling problem
1998 Jeep Cherokee V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

we just recently had the water pump replaced in feb2009. Then at the first of dec09 we had to return it because water was leaking. They completed a diagonstic test and said everything was OK. Just some clamps on some hoses came loose. NOW. Water is comming out from behind the water pump. Just above the alternator. I cant tell where its comming from. What is behind there and where could it be coming from.

The water pump is mounted to the engine. If the leak is behind the waterpump, then the pump gasket itself could be leaking. Also, check under the water pump where the weep hole is located. Check there for evidence of a leak. Also, I believe the heater hoses run behind the alt. Check them too.

Let me know what you find. If you can upload a picture of the area you see the leak coming from, it would be helpful.

Let me know.
