We don't the information on the fuel tank might want to check the dealership-for the removal-drain the fuel out, disconnect the fuel inlet piping make sure nothing is holding it back before you drop the tank and then loosen the straps or bracket

The frame on my 2002 Sonata is apparently slightly bent making the floorboards 3" higher than they are supposed to be. Becuase of this after 6 months or so of driving my gas tank begins to leak. Is there a way to install this differently that the typical way to prevent the leaking from occuring again?

Hi jessylynn1986,

Thank you for the donation.

You can use packing foams to use as support to cancel out the misaligned floorboard.

For a permanent measure, repairing the floorboard would be the best option.

Concentrate your diagnostic to your EVAP system and fuel tank pressure sensor.

There appears to be a fuel tank venting problem. It takes forever to fill the gas tank. The pump shuts down as though the tank is full, so it takes around 15 minutes to fill the tank. Is there someway to clean the venting system?

Look at the fuel tank filler neck. If there is a smaller hose that runs along it, that is the vent hose. You may need to remove it to see if there is a plugged vent hose.

For the last several month when ever I stop to fill the car up with gas it takes almost 20 min to fill the gas tank up. It doesn't matter which station I go to it happens at all of them. The gas starts going in then it clicks off no matter how you hold it. You might be lucky and get a gallon or two in before it clicks off again. It like the gas won't flow into the tank. Could a vent be plugged.

Check your EVAP system. Possible faulty purge or check valves.

Hi there,

The tank venting system is not working, you are getting an air lock causing this back up and noise, have this inspected by your mechanic.

Have you checked for codes yet? Sounds like you have a restricted filler pipe or a vent valve/ hose restricted or stuck closed or a vent valve circuit issue.
