Problems filling fuel tank

I have a 2002 Hyundai Sonota LX, 98,000 miles, 6 cyl, 3.0 liter engine. For the past 2 weeks I have not been able to add fuel to the tank without the pump shutting of every 20 or 30 seconds. I know the tank is not full because if I perservere and stand there for 15 minutes or so, I can finally get 13 -15 gallons to fill the tank. This happens at any service station I have tried. The pump keeps shutting off every 20-30 seconds while pumping fuel as if the fuel is backing up to the filler tube.

Sounds like some kind of restriction/venting problem in the filler tube. Didnt see any TSB's (tech service bulletin) regarding that problem. Might want to have a shop look at it, doesnt sound dangerous, just annoying. BTW did this just start all of the sudden or the entire time you have had the car?

I bought the car new in Sept. 02 and it just developed this problem about 10-14 days ago. There were no indications of any problem prior to that nor was there any contributing incident. I just stopped to gas up one day about 2 weeks ago, and the problem started.

Might want to have a shop look at it just in case the tank needs to be lowered or removed to fix it
