Check fuel pressure with a gauge. It may be because of cam with no reprogramming of computer fuel pressure should be 60-66 psi. also, check for vacuum leak. auto parts rent gauge. See link.

Engine has low power and excessive vacuum on engine. Cannot hardly remove oil cap with engine running and keeps pvc valve closed because of the high pressure

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. this may be something with low fuel pressure. normally engines have pressure while running not vacuum. it may be something broken in valve cover letting it suck to much air or a breather is plugged on other line going to throttle body. see link. for fuel pressure.

1996 Chevy K2500 5.7 liter Vortec low on power - getting lean codes p0171 and p0174 with good fuel pressure. I attached a vacuum gauge and am getting 15" at idle - when you give it gas the gauge drops to zero. Could this be plugged cats or another problem?

It has the symptoms of a plugged up Catalytic converter but double check the fuel pressure. This is a high pressure system that is very pressure sensitive. It requires over 55PSI at all times.

Could be caused by the following a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode
