Quick question I have a 94 honda civic dx 1.5 lieter sohc. Im going to buy a sohc 16 valve v-tech engine. I know I need to get the computer chip changed. Would I also need to change the transmission as well. My cars a stick. And would I need to change out the clutch?

Generally I would think it should work and the clutch should be fine but the best advice on this comes from the auto salvage people. They know the swap and replace game. You never mentioned the year of the motor. That might be helpful.

If you switch to a D16z6 Vtec you can still use your DX tranny and it will be fine. But it is recommended to swap both the engine and tranny from the EX so that you can have a short gear ratio compared to the DX which has a long gear box. And since your going to be building the nused engine in you might as well replace the clutch And if you can look for a p28 ecu it is the ECU from a EX will perform better then getting one chipped. Never can trust them since everyone and their grandmother is doing it. This swap is very common and can be found by doing a google search. Or you can go to D-series. Org.
