I need to replace both halfshafts. I have chilton repair manual. It says that I need to drain transaxle fluid if I am gonna remove the shaft that is not installed into intermediate shaft. So, do I have to drain the fluid since I need to replace both? Am I gonna deal with lots of fluid? I mean, do I need large container?

Any advice is very appreciated.

thanks

I have done many axles and they recommend that. Personally I don't drain it. The amount of loss is very slight. I catch it in a small flat pan. If you do opt to lower the level don't put in back in but you shouldn't have to let out very much.
