1998 Honda Accord grinding or growling noise

After a few minutes of running the A/C there is this sudden low sound from the engine area and while the A/C seems to still work fine the noise will immediately go away if I shut off the A/C. Is this bearings related to the A/C because that is what the noise sounds / feels like? Thanks - dayll

Hi dayll,

Seems the noise is from the compressor and it could be the beltings and/or pulleys.

Depending on the noise, it could be operational noise due to an aging compressor or the compressor is failing due to wear in it.

It is best checked by someone who is able to verify the noise source.
