1998 Honda Accord

My car (1998 Honda Accord) shuts off while I'm driving it. Usually right before it cuts off my speedometer and odometer go to 0 and then jump back up and then it shuts off. I usually shift into neutral and it will restart after a couple times of cranking it. Sometimes it makes a sound like its already cranked and I'm turning my key over. Tonight it turned off going down the highway about 6 times and took several tries to restart it. Also, when I crank it I have to turn it over a few times because it cranks and then shuts right back off.

Hi mara312,

The symptom described is most likely a faulty ignition switch.

Does the dashlights shows when the engine stall? Slowly turn ignition switch to ON and watch if the dashlights flickers. Turn to Start slowly and if the dashlights fliskers, the ignition switch is bad.
