1987 Honda Accord 4 cyl Manual 315, 00 miles

I have a 1987 Honda Accord DX. Sometimes it starts when I pump the hell out of the gas pedal. When it is running all of a sudden it stops, almost like if someone pinched the fuel line. Then it won't start unless I take the line off the fuel pump and blow into it towards the carb. Then it will start and run till that gas is gone. At other times it will run for 50 miles before messing up. Sometimes 1 mile. I have a new pump, new filters. What else could it be? My lines are not kinked. Please help this is making me crazy.

Hi petemanns,

If fuel is not being supplied to the carb, there are 2 possibilities.

1. Fuel pump not working. This could be due to current supply not getting to pump. Check the fuel pump relay and electrical connections.

2. The carb float needle is stuck in the closed position resulting in fuel not getting into the float chamber.
