1987 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 107k miles

I need to know if there is perhaps a picture of the carb, and if so does it show where the adjusting screws are, I just had(4 months ago) a rebuilt carb put on and it still doesn't run, seems to run good enough while cold but then it dies after warming up. This is my wifes car and it isn't such a good thing, can u help

Hi patschleicher,

Is this a 1.8 or 2 L engine?

Hi patschleicher,

There are some differences between the two and for data research, the correct model would make the job easier and accurate.

I don't have any pix of the carb to show so I am not sure if I could be of any assistance.

Stalling after warming up should be due to idling system. Since carb was rebuilt, the adjustment could be out and you should check the idle adjust screw. It is located just below the auto choke and is quite difficult to get a visual of it. You can see the threads touching the throttle linkage from front right of vehicle.

Adjustment should be done when operating temp is attained so that the cold start mechanism are all out of the way.

Next to check would be the air fuel mixture. Screw is at centre of carb nearest to firewall. If there is a plastic cap, it has to be removed to enable adjustment.
