2000 GMC Sierra Fuel Ligt

The fuel light keeps coming (intermittingly) on even after a fill-up. I'm guessing we need a new fuel pump as it has the original, but wanted to know if there is something else I should check instead or first?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

This will not be the fuel pump, it will be the fuel sender unit in the tank, this is the device that operates the fuel gauge as well, when the float reaches a pr determined position the low fuel light will come on, there will be a fault in this part of the sender assembly.
