New member here. I have looked through tons of threads but didn't find one exactly like I need. My Safari (just bought it), is having a real rough time starting. I have to pump the gas pedal to get it started. It runs extremely rough for about 1 mile, then smooths out and runs great. The check engine code indicated 'multiple cylinder missfire' (surprised?). This was read at the Advance Auto Parts store. I had the guy reset the code. He wants me to replace spark plugs and wires first. My question to him was 'why does it run so smooth after a bit of driving. Plugs and wires would cause that?'. He didn't have an answer. Any ideas? Should I start with fuel pump pressure? This all started overnight and does it every start. Thanks in advance for your help. Scott.

I would start with checking fuel pressure, should be 60-66 psi. Check the fuel filter, might be plugged. Low fuel pressure or plugged filter will cause a hard start. Also had ALOT of trouble with the fuel injectors on the 4.3L engines. Start with the above first.
