Hello,

An engine can overheat due to a number of reasons.
It could be as simple as being low on coolant. It can also be due to a stuck closed thermostat, bad water pump, faulty radiator, inoperative cooling fans. It can also overheat due to having a clog in the cooling system or contaminated coolant.

Take a look at this helpful guide. It can help you determine what could be the culprit.
