I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL 3.0. How does one determine how many valves the engine has?

If it's a 24 valve, it'll be badged on the front fenders behind the wheels, also I think the 8th place in the vin will be "S". I think it's the 8th digit, if no "S" or 24V badge, it's a 12 valve
