I have a 1999 ranger 4-cylinder 2 wheel drive automatic. It has 104000 miles turned it on and the abs, check engine, and o/d off light were either blinking or on and the transmission was having a rough time changing gears unless I turned the o/d to the on postion, then it would stay in first gear. I dont know were to start because it all happened at the same time. Thanks.

Make sure you have enough automatic transmission fluid. That usually seems to be the problem when the O/D light blinks on my '97 Ranger. I think I read somewhere that the transmission does not report errors to the ODB so perhaps Ford uses the O/D light flashing as a transmission error code. You'll need a code reader for the engine codes though- but it sounds they may somehow be related to the transmission problem.
