Does your truck have a heater control valve in-line on one of the heater hoses? If so be sure itis working. Sometimes the small vacuum line that goes to them gets broken off and then they wont let hot water into the heater core

How can I tell if it has a valve or not and what does it look like and where would it be at on there would it be next to the core or next to the block. There is a T from the heter hose going into the water pump and then the other end goes behind the motor and there is a splurging cap there on the other hose

It would be inline on one of the heater hoses. If you dont have one, check to see if both hoses are getting hot, if not you may have a restriction in the heater core. If they are both hot then the problem is either the control head (dash control) or the blend door actuator under the dash
