Transmission leaks

My husband and I thought that it was the pan that was leaking but once he replacedn the pan gasket and filter it still leaked he said that there is a leak on the Back seal? Where is this? And I found out that there is a 4 wheel drive transmission on our 95 Ford exployer V8 that is not a four wheel drive what do we do?

Clarify on your vehicle more if you can. Your explorer should have an AOD transmission, is your vehicle 2wd?
Does it have a transfer case?

Yes it is a 2 wheel drive the dealer said that it must have come from the auction like that and told me that it was no big deal, yes it has a transfer case
