I just replaced my speedometer on my 1997 mustang, and now it won't start. The theft light keeps flashing. Someone please help.

We answer thousands of questions everyday so Im sorry you feel we are unresponsive

When you say you replaced the speedo, do you mean the entire gauge cluster assembly or just the speedo/tach assembly from the cluster? Is the engine cranking at all or getting no response from ignition switch?

If it's cranking then wouldn't have anything to do with speedo replacement I wouldn't think. Need to make sure fuel pump is coming on and fuel pressure is correct. If OK check spark plugs to ensure they are getting bright blue healthy spark

How would the fuel pump make the theft light flash like crazy?

Didn't notice the anti theft light flashing. First make sure fuses are good, especially the maxi fuses under hood. If OK, try using a different key. If that doesn't work than the original key may need reprogammed as well as the PATS system, that is the anti theft system Ford uses.

If the key is good then the computer must be at fault. Best bet would just be having a diagnostic ran on the anti theft system at local shop

Is there a way to check a pats key if it's any good? By the way the nearest ford dealership is about three hundred miles from here.
