2003 Ford F-150 servirvice engine soon indicator on

Is it normal for this indicator to come on at this mileage stage? Is it cheaper for me to buy a code scanner to see what diagnosis is?

The CEL can come on at any stage in the vehicles life ! You could buy a reader. It will come in handy now and more so in the future, theres a link at the bottom of the this post. Or you could take the vehicle to a good autoparts store (autozone etc.) Most will read the codes for you !. Retrieve the codes and repost for a diagnosis
