I wanted take the rotors off of my explorer to have them turned and install new pads. Do I have to remove the automatic lockers to get the rotors off?
my explorer is a 1993 4.0L 4x4 eddie bauer edition with 310 000 kms on it
thanks for any help in advance

Yes and I would recomend a good repair manual to help you get it back, you should regrease the bearings since your there. So if you dont wont to use the manual just remember to do one side at a time and line all the parts in order of taking them off and reverse is back on. The cleaned parts and regreased bearings (should use new seals) back on the outside bearing needs to be seated, just snug up the bearings to seat then back off and then tighten to approx 15 ft lbs. That is about the same as tighting with your hand on the socket only no ratchet. Also with auto hubs I believe there is plastic parts so carfull not to break them and you might need a special socket for the hub nut.

Also you can sometimes rent the tool from auto supply stores, or if your inclined to you can make the tool with an old socket and some grinding, if you take a look at it (just pull off the hub lock) see what it looks like you might be able to just make the tool.
Good luck.
