Rear driver side door will not unlock

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer with power locks and within the past few months the driver side passenger door lock has been hit or miss with unlocking. As of yesterday, the lock will not open at all- my problems: the door automatically locks when I drive away (so I can't just not lock it) and to try to fix the problem- the door is locked so I cannot open it to get to dissassemble the lock. Does anyone have a solution?

Keyless entry? Digital keypad? There is a procedure to cancel out the auto locking system when you shift thru reverse, it's in the owners manual. It's possible that it may be the lock solenoid is faulty, the piece that controls the locking action

You could always unlock it manually then pull the fuse? Then you can open the door to fix it.

Are the doors "child proof" in the rear? If so, there may be some kind of safety lockout mechanism that's not working right.
