2003 Ford Explorer "floating"

2003 Ford Explorer 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I get a "floating" sensation as I'm driving and it's especially bad in the wind and above 50mph. It feels as if I could lose control at any moment.

I would begin by checking the shock absorbers. Make sure none are leaking. Then do a jounce and rebound test on each side of the vehicle. Push down hard on bumper, then let go. If the vehicle moves up and down more than twice. The shocks are worn out
