What type of fluid does my front end take? It's making a roaring sound after it warms up and I have replace the fluid with gear oil, is this the right fluid for it?

Hi:
Yes, the front differential takes gear lube, GL5. Has the noise gone away?

Hi:
As a result of being low on fluid, it sounds like a bearing has gone bad. Check the front drive shaft where it attaches to the differential and shake it to see if there is play.
