Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1999 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I noticed last week when I turn the wheels that it makes a sqeaking noise ( like twisting rubber) It would also make this noise when just going over bumps. Now when I try to steer the wheel the steering wheel has no resistance and the wheels go whatever direction. What could this be?

What do you mean whatever direction?

The way the wheel is turned or do they turn random directions?

Random directions. It's almost like sliding on ice. I can't drive it.

Jack up the front end and secure it, go under it and have someone turn the wheel.

Not full revolutions just a little bit back and forth.

What do you notice? Any componenets have excessive play, or are missing/broke?
