I recently had a flat and had to get towed (did not have spare) I was still driving with spare on. (My tires been going bad from inside fast) I got two new front tires and thought I needed just a wheel alignment. But shop would not do wheel alignment because they said I needed tie rod replacement. Which I end up replacing then wheel alignment. It is still unable to drive past 30mph. I forgot I skipped the main part.
When I had it towed. They asked if it was AWD. I specifically remember telling him that I had all wheel drive he then proceeded to tow my car with two front tires lifted on a dolly I got in the tow truck we proceeded to drive I am hearing a loud noise and smoke everywhere coming for my truck after driving a mile or two then he stopped and put my car with four tires lifted. Could that improper tow been the cause of my truck getting damaged because it was not like that before? How do I go about finding out if the improper tow could been the cause of my truck. I am scared to even drive it now. I already spent over $700 on trying to repair truck. Not to mention unable to get to work. Also my overdrive light on dashboard was blinking on and off all day but then it stopped. Can I get it diagnosed? I do not know much about car repairs. Except from past experiences with cars I used to own. I Google everything I have questions or concerns about. I know I need some advice on my truck that is just sitting in my driveway. Need to know first if the tow could of caused it or not before any thing else. I refuse to spend any more money until I know for sure.

please help. Single woman and head of house hold needing advice.

If tow truck driver had to stop because of smoking and loud noise he did something wrong then put it on a four wheel dolly they are probably the ones at fault contact the towing company which they are probably going to deny and you will more than likely end up in court over this but follow this through. Have a mechanic check this out especially if it does what you are saying something is seriously wrong here, it could be bent wheels but I kind of doubt it.

Thank you. So it actually was Cal Trans. I was on a bay bridge. They actually have a website for damage claims online for up to 10,000 and less. So I can just go to any mechanic near me or is it a certain kind of mechanic that specializes with certain parts of car I need to go to?

It depends where it was smoking and making noise so check with any mechanic first they may refer you to someone else though. Tell him what happened.
