Noises problem
1999 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles

the truck makes a noise when yoyu start it and it isnt the motor it sounds like it needs muffler but a new was installed some one said it could be the converter also I went to drive it today and it wouldnt go over 20 miles and my husband went and drove it and it ran fine

I need you to check something. Take a rubber mallot and (with the engine off) tap on the converter to see if the insides are loose. If it is, it may have been plugged when you drove it and not when your husband did.

Let me know what you find.
