02' Ford Explorer 4X4, 4.8L, 90K

We have a problem with the vehicle starting if it has set for over 10-12 hours. The last time we replaced the battery the cables were very badly corroded; the alternator checked out fine (took the cable off the battery and the vehicle continued running). This battery is three weeks old and will not turn the vehicle, once jumped it will run for a couple days - but then not turn over. Your help would be appreciated.

First of all the pulling the cable off trick is a big no-no with computer controlled cars. Just because the alt is charging doesnt mean it isnt bad. Have the alt bench tested, could very well have a bad diode that is drawing the battery down while it is sitting
