My temperature gauge would rise to the middle and then after a few minutes it would rise to rise and the oil light would come one. I rev the motor then drop it back into gear and the gauge goes back to normal. I thought it was the thermostat so replaced it. Now the temperature gauge shows that its overheating after a few miles and the truck overheats. Ford said that it was a head gasket, but I not leaking any coolant. I read that it might be the fan might not be working but I checked when the truck is overheating and the fan is working fine. What else could it be? I thought maybe the water pump?

When does it happen, on the highway or intown driving? Also, have you replaced the thermostat, flushed the cooling system?

Let me know.
Joe
PS: A bad head gasket could cause this problem.
