Transmission problem
2008 Ford Escape 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 66k miles

Recently purchased Escape occasionally shifts hard from second two third when trans is cold. 66k miles trans fluid has never been changed. Do you recommend trans flush or only drop pan and clean filter? Also, do you think this is a potentially serious problem? Thank you for your help

First you would want to just inspect the fluid and fluid level. If the level is low than add fluid to the appropriate level. If the level is brown or black and/or smells burnt then it will need replaced. I would suggest a flush since the vehicle is relatively new with low mileage.
