FORD ESCAPE WON'T COME OUT OF PARK

When I start the car and step on brake pedal and try to shift from park the shift lever will not move from park I have to depress the manual release to shift it.

Check your brake lights, are they coming on when you press the pedal?

I did check and found a bad solenoid as you recommended, replaced it and it seems to be working fine. Thanks so much.
