Fan running under the vehicle while vehicle is turned off?

I can hear the sound of a fan running under the vehicle while it is off. It has been running for a while and now it won't start (probably because it's really cold and the battery is running down). What fan could be running under the vehicle? It isn't coming from the engine.

Hi,

In all honesty, there isn't a fan under the vehicle. Are you sure it isn't the engine cooling fan under the hood? Where does it seem the loudest?

As far as the no start, chances are whatever is making the noise is draining the battery. Is it possible for you to record the sound you hear and upload it for me to hear?

The description sounds typical of a failed fuel pump relay causing the fuel pump to stay on and drain the battery. Unfortunately the relay is a part on the board inside the TIPM and is not replaceable. To check if this is the problem you can go to the fuse box and pull fuse M25 and see if the fan noise stops. If it does the relay is the issue. There are two ways to repair it, replace the TIPM completely or use one of the aftermarket solutions that are available.
