Anytime I jump it, it runs fine, no problems. As soon as I remove the jumper cables seconds later service stability track service power.

Hi,

If the voltage continues to drop while the engine is running, the alternator isn't charging the battery. We need to remove the alternator. Once that is done, take it to a parts store and ask them to bench-test it. If it fails, replace it.

I attached directions below specific to your vehicle. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable doing it. Note: Make sure you have the battery disconnected before you start working on the alternator.

Also, here is a link that explains how to replace an alternator in general. I feel it is more descriptive and helpful.

Let me know what you find.

I had already taken the alternator to the parts store and it checked out good. I think the problem is my battery charging system, how can we fix that?

Hi,

The battery charging system is the alternator. Based on your description about the battery voltage drops when the engine is running, the alternator isn't working. Now, that can be because the alternator is faulty or there could be a wiring issue.

If you checked the voltage at the battery while the engine was running and it kept dropping until the engine stalled, it is related to the alternator. I had you check power to it back a few posts. Are you sure there is voltage to the alternator?

Let me know.

Okay, after looking again there is a wire running into the alternator that I did not check because I couldn't get to it with the tester. It looks like that same wire is running from the inline fuse to the starter that I already tested were good. Do I need to take the alternator out to check that wire?

Hi,

You shouldn't need to remove the alternator to check it. Could you take a pic of its location and upload it for me to see? Maybe I'll be able to give you some ideas.

Note: Remember that the wire I am talking about should always have battery voltage (if the fusible link is good). Be careful not to short it on anything metal.

Let me know. I have a feeling that is the issue.

Take care,

Joe
