Driving, running fine, started skipping bad, had to pump gas to get home, about four blocks. Since, replaced plugs, plug wire, coil. Still the same. It will crank and given gas, it will run with some skip, let off gas, it will cut off. Mechanic thinks could be jumped timing, another thinks wiring harness damaged from heat. Thank you for your time.

If it is missing, the check engine light should have come on. First you need to determine what codes are stored in the computer. Here is a video that shows it being done on a chrysler vehicle. Let me know what you find.

When starting to crank, the check engine light is on, when the engine cranks the check engine light is off even though engine is missing bad and will cut off if left to idle. Is there any way to get the check engine light to be on while the engine is running so codes can be checked?

It does not matter if the light is on or off the computer will store the codes.

Here is a guide:

Please let us know what you find.
