Overheating, thermostat replaced, still overheating. Now they want to change water pump. Is it necessary to change the thermostat when it is a water pump problem? And does the whole system parts need to be changed if it is only a problem with one part?

I do not do that if it is a bad water pump that is what gets replaced. Some places use that as an excuse for selling more parts and more money.
