My issue(s):

I hear the pop or clicking in the dash occasionally when I first start the SUV.
The A/C works but the heater blows cold air out of the defrost, mid-dash and floor vents.
It seems the re-circulation mode does not work because I smell exhaust. I toggle that mode from external air to recirculated internal air and it does not seem like anything happens.

Do I have this right? Replace both the re-circulation actuator and the mode (defrost and mid vent and floor) actuator.
If so, are they both the same part?

And since I do not have dual climate control, then I will not need either temperature actuators, right?

Good morning.

It is the blend door actuator, not the mode door. I will attach a picture and procedure.

Okay, I got a picture and procedure. You can get it at any parts store.

Thank you for the response. I am a bit confused. With reference to this article (https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-blend-door-motor) they appear to all be "blend door actuators". The one you highlight, is that the only one i need to replace to resolve all of the issues?

Yes, they are all there. Your modes are working correctly but your heat is not. That is why you need the blend door as it controls heat and cold commands.

Start with replacing that.
