Alright I have a problem with my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 v8 automatic trans. 2wd. With 78750 miles.
Recently the CEL came on while I was on a roadtrip. I noticed that when trying to accelerate in high gear, it struggles greatly when it reaches 3500 rpm, almost like it doesnt know what its supposed to do. My first thought was transmission because I thought it was failing to shift. However, I drove it and stopped at the store before work, and when I came out of the store (maybe 2 minutes) it would not start. So I walked to work, and was at work for roughly 9 hours. I walked back to my truck and it cranked right up. Stopped at the store again (tempting fate yes I know) but it started right up AGAIN. However on the 25 mile drive home, it stalled out. I pulled over and shut off the ignition, it started right back up and I got on home just fine. So given the not starting after a short rest, the trouble accelerating suddenly I am thinking its the fuel pump. Do I need to replace the fuel pump, or do I need to go get drug tested?

Hold off on the drug test. For now LOL. Have it scanned for the code/codes, that will give us a good place to start. When it stalls. Does it just sign off or does it feel like it is running out of fuel?

Autozone will scan it for free, have that done first, does sound like a low fuel pressure condition.
