V8 four wheel drive manual 74,000 miles.

Does anybody know the firing order for my truck listed above it is a 1500 pickup, or know where I can find a diagram? I have tried a couple of different ways which people have told me how to do.

I am unable to find the firing order for my Dodge Ram 1500 V8. I know the wires were routed wrong, but don't have the correct order. Also, please verify the orientation of the order when looking from the front.
Thanks!

The firing order for the 5.2L and 5.9L is stampped on the intake maninfold. Its on the top of the manifold. The distributor rotation is also stampped on the intake just in front of the distributor cap.

Thanks a ton! Funny. When they are correct, it runs like a champ.
The mechanic (and I use that term generously in his case) swore he'd done nothing wrong, but "would be glad to fix it for a price."

I Cant figure out which plug wires go to whitch plug. The new wires I got aren't the same size as the stock ones and the stock ones have different numbers on them than the new ones. What plug wire goes to what Plug. I have 8mm wires. My truck is a 99 dodge Ram 2500 488 V10

I've read the code on my 318, showing a misfire on #4 cylinder. Trying to figure out how they are numbered, and will plugs and/or wires fix the problem.

Check the no. 4 sparkplug/compression/injector

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel

Miss Barb,

I have the "textbook diagram" of the firing order, click on the diagram below.

If the distributor has been removed now/ or in the past and the rotor button position was not placed exactly where it originated, then this diagram may deceive you!

Depending on the situation with the distributor's history (recent or past)

The actual order or sequence is set "In Stone",

the possible "head scratcher" is where #1 wire starts the sequence on the distributor cap. The Distributor "does not care" where the sequence starts (on the cap's towers) as long as #1 is in sync with TDC (Top Dead Center) of the engine.

With all that being said, hopefully your stuff is still easy and "textbook"

If by chance the distributor was taken out and not reinstalled 100% the way it came out/ Or the engine was turned while it was out, return with the "rest of the story", maybe I can help you find TDC and how to install the distributor so you will know where to start the sequence.

Return with good news!

The Medic
