I have just replaced the moor in my truck. 318. The truck turns over, but will not start. I unplugged the harness from the coil and put a volt meter on the two wires and had an assistane turn the ignition on and the volt meter showed 12 volts then 2 seconds later it went back to 0 volts. The coil is good.

Sounds like your problem may be. With the fuel pump, can you hear it come on when you turn the key to the on position?

Fuel pump works fine. I changed the tranny. Does the tranny have to be installed a certain way? Not any good on wiring and such, it gets no spark to plugs. Thinking it might have something to do with crank sensor. Coil seems to be ok. Are there any marks on the tranny and motor that line up to install the tranny right? I know there are slots cut in the torque converter and pins in the tranny that have to slide together. Just wondering if it is turned 180 degrees and installed, would that make the crank sensor send false firing signals?

If its turning over then the tranny should be just fine. But the crank sensor would be my next step as to why there is no spark, also the coil/distributor

Well I have decided to go ahead and check out the crank sensor anyway. The only thing left I could think of. So after a few busted knuckles and scratches, I finally got it off and low and behold-iI guess when I swapped out the trannies, I accidently sheared two of the three wires in half. Thank god for two engines that are alike, I just used the old one off the other one and it fired right up. So I guess for a hint don't try and be rough putting on a tranny on a 318. As ole Willie says "On The Road Again" Thank guys for the help and info. Hope I can be of assistance to some of you. Thanks legitimate007
