Why is my catalitic converter turning bright red?

The catalitic convertor has multiple passages through it which dissapate the heat. If some of these passages become plugged it restricts the exhaust flow to just a few of these passages which overheats the convertor. Usually when this condition exists, it can't be cleaned. It needs to be replaced. Hope this helps and thank you for your donation.
