I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, 2.7liter, with 98,000 miles. After driving approximately 7-10 miles the oil light will come on when coming to a stop. It goes back off if you tap the accelarator pedal or when you start to drive again and re-appears again when coming to a stop. I have checked the oil level and it is full. I was wondering if it could be the oil sending unit is malfunctioning? Please advise.
Thanks,
Ray Wallace

Sounds to me you got a faulty oil pressure switch.

I have a 2002 Grand Caravan EX with 73000 miles. I am having the exact same problem. Oil light came on and off. Checked level and it was low. Added oil to proper level. Light comes on when coming to a stop and goes off when you give it a little bit of gas. If it is the oil pressure switch should I not operate vehicle until fixed or do you think I can use without damage to engine? Will be getting fixed asap but needed to make a short drive. (13 miles)Thanks.
