Car is stuck in first gear. If I cut off and restart it will go to second then go back to first what gives?

Your computer is detecting a problem with the transmission and is programmed to start your car in 2nd gear.

You'll have to have your computer scanned by someone who has access to a scanner capable of reading the tranny codes. (Any generic scanner won't do)

And you'll definitely need some tranny work. Sorry.
