2005 Dodge Caravan relearn

Is there a relearn that I can do so my van will start. I get all the lights and everything but it wont start. It wont even click the starter when I hit the key. Somebody told me since it sat for about a year while I was out of start that the brain was dead and I would have to "relearn it". What to do? I took it to have the computer read and it says " will not read from computer" on the screen of the plug in computer
