You have to drop down the fuel tank

I have dropped the tank but did not see any lines that matched the replacement filter. Is it inside the tank?

The fuel filter is replaceable only as a part of the fuel pump module

if what you have has long fuel lines it is for an older model year

It has 3 lines for " IN, OUT, and RT". The same fuel filter is shown for the 2003 and 2004 model. Is this the correct filter? Thank you.

If you don't have nothing on top the fuel tank then its the wrong one
you dont need to replace the filter and you dont have one
its part of the fuel pump

Could the filter be located closer to the engine in a different module?

NO
you dont have one
the only place they put it was on top the fuel tank
or in the fuel tank with the fuel pump
what you have is the one with the fuel pump
so if you have no prob leave it alon

The problem is the car hesitates when you press on the gas while driving and sometimes has a slight hesitation when at a light. I have changed the air filter and done an oil change. It started after I put I think some bad gas in it. I have also put some fuel injection cleaner solution in for the 2 fillups but did not on the last one. Should I continue to add the injection cleaner till it runs smooth? The engine service light came on after getting the bad gas, went off after adding two injection cleaners, but came back on after the last fillup.

Have you changed the plugs and wires
I think van do for a tune up
also try next time you go for a fill up to add some dry gas
in to the tank before the fill up

I will try that. I think the plugs are good till 100000 miles. Should I get the fuel injectors cleaned or use the same solutions or maybe a water remover solution till it smooths out? Thank you.
