1993 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My mechanic says I need a new starter. From the vin I have a 3.0 liter 6 cyl. The parts store needs to know if it is a bosch or other original starter. Where do I find the starter. I assume under the compressor on the passenger side of the engine. Can I take it out without having to drain anything?

The starter is located at bottom center rear of engine. Just follow positive battery cable to below engine. It is connected to starter. Nothing needs drained to remove starter.

If you have the Nippendenso starter and it just clunks once, it has worn solenoid contacts. About $15.00 for the pair. A competent do-it-yourselfer can replace them.
