Sorry I was irritated that you suggested the positive battery cable when it was new, the problem turned out to be a faulty battery from Walmart which was also new. Obviously neither of us could have known that without proper testing.

Glad you got the problem fixed the battery was what I thought he problem was but when you said it was new I needed to look somewhere else. I missed the cable thing sorry about that.

That kind of problem can be tough. Please use 2CarPros anytime we are here to help.

Cheers, Ken

RE: "Turn over mena start? If yes check for spark at plugs. Check engine light on? Security light?"
Yes, I meant it won't start. It tries to start, but never kicks all the way over. At first I thought it might be flooded, but that's not the case. The service engine light is on, the security light isn't. Just had a tune-up in September, but I will check the spark plugs. Thanks.

Get a scan done to retrieve the trouble code for the MIL indicating. It could tell us what is wrong.

Recently while driving I hit the cruise control accelerate button and it seemed the the gas peddle went to the floor and the engine made a high pitch sound. Turned off cruise control and it went back to normal but with a knock noise from the engine. Made it home ok and was going to bring to garage the next day but now it will not turn over at all. Can hear the starter working but the engine makes no attempt to turn over at all. Any help would be Great. Thanks!

Attact ratchet and socket to balancer bolt on front of engine. Rotate engine clockwise, if engine will not rotate, then it may be siezed.

If engine rotates, then remove starter and have it tested at most autoparts stores for free.

When you say gas pedal went to floor, did engine over rev, in other words, did tach go into redline?
Did you get an oil pressure warning light? Or did gauge go below 10psi?

The P0341 is the one causing the stalling or difficult starting. You need to have the sensor and circuit checked.

Then most likely something broke in valvetrain and lodged in crank, or bearing spun, or rod bearing etc.

Try to rotate the engine by hand as described, if it will not rotate, then you probably will be better off replacing engine with used one.
Also drain oil and look for metal particles in oil.

Over-reving the engine can cause valves to "float" since springs cannot hold pressure at high rpm. Can also cause oil starvation at bearings.

The cause is the cruise contorl, it should NEVER redline the engine.

There are 3 main things required for starting and engine.

1. Sparks. Ensure ignition sparks are available. Our DIY section has information on how to go about checking this.

2. Fuel. Ensure you have sufficient fuel pressure and the injectors are pulsing. You can try some starting fluid to see if it works.

3. Engine compression. If engine had been idle for too long and with continous cranking, fuel could have flooded the cylinders at some period and this can wash away the lubricating oil in the cylinders and piston rings. This would cause engine compression to drop and not allow starting. Get a compression test performed.
If you are not able to perform any test, remove the spark plugs and pump 1 cc of oil into each cylinder. Cranks the engine for a few seconds to allow the oil to lubricate the rings. Reinstall the sparks plugs and related components and try starting again.

All at once I go to crank the car, and it just turns over and over. It sounds like all it has to do it hit, but it doesn't. I try for up to 5 or six times and it cranks all at once. I try sometimes, and it cranks right up, I try other times, and I go through the 5 or 6 time thing. It always does crank, and stays running the whole time I am driving. Doesn't stall at stops or anything like that. I took it to an auto parts place and got them to check the battery( which by the way is only 3 mos old) the starter and everything was fine. Was told it would have to be checked while it was doing the problem, to be able to tell what it was. Means I would have to have it towed. And was told it may be fuel pump too. Please can you help me!

Go to a auto part's store like auto zone and have them scan your computer for code's. If you have any code's let me know what the number's are. Also when it doesn't start is there any security light's on or flashing?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? As far as the "Throttle Control Sensor, " do you mean the idle air control valve (IAC)? The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine's idle.
