Hi antigas,

For the trans to go into limp mode, possible causes are :
1. Faulty sensors.
2. Faulty transmission
3. Wiring fault.
4. Faulty PCM.

Too bad you do not have Autozone outlets. So far what sensors have you replaced and what are the trouble codes retrieved?

How do you drop the transmission? Husband is removing it to be repaired. What is the step by step process?

It is a lengthy process and it will take forever and a day to type the write-up. Your husband is better off purchasing a Chilton 42014 manual from an auto parts store. It will not have the teardown process for the automatic transmission, but it will have the instruction of removal and installation of the transmission from the vehicle.
