When I start the cruise control (press the button), the cruise control light indicates, but only for two seconds before turning off.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

There could be several causes for this. First, and don't laugh, a maladjusted brake light switch can turn it off. Make sure the brake pedal moves at least a half inch before the brake lights come on.

Next, you should really have the computer scanned for specific diagnostic trouble codes which indicate a specific problem with the system.

Now, there are a few other things you can check. The cruise control is vacuum actuated via a vacuum reservoir and a servo. I have attached three pictures. One shows location, one the servo, and the other the actuator. Check plugs to the servo as well as make sure there are no engine vacuum leaks in the system. On the servo itself, there is an electrical connector as well as two vacuum hoses. Check for leaks.

Let me know if any of this helps.

Take care,
Joe
